Our Staff

The majority of the staff are located in the main office in Chicago, unless otherwise noted. The Illinois Chapter office is also home to several Sierra Club National staff for the Midwest Region, which has allowed a strong connection between National priorities and local projects.

Illinois Chapter Staff

Jack Darin, Director

Jack works with our volunteer leaders and staff to set priorities, hold our elected officials accountable, reach out to build new alliances, and make sure we have the financial and other resources we need to protect the Prairie State for future generations. Cindy Skrukrud (McHenry County), Clean Water Advocate

Cindy works with Sierra Club members, citizens, public officials and business leaders throughout Illinois to advocate for sustainable development/redevelopment, improved wastewater treatment, industrial pollution prevention, protection of natural and agricultural lands, and river restoration to better protect the water quality of our state's lakes, rivers, streams and wetlands. Erica Dodt, Illiana Organizer

Erica works at a grassroots level to resist the construction of the Illiana Tollroad. She works in coalition with the Environmental Law and Policy Center and Openlands, as well as numerous other organizations.

Katrina Phillips, Clean Water Organizer

Katrina advocates for important issues under the Club’s Clean Water campaign including the prevention of aquatic invasive species transfer and better stormwater management. She works with partners to advance campaign goals, empowers citizens to participate in the environmental policy making process, and helps with grassroots campaign activities in support of issues at the local and state level. Christine Favilla (Alton), Three Rivers Project Co-Coordinator

Dani Robinette (Alton), 1 Mississippi Outreach Assistant

Dani works to expand the 1 Mississippi campaign by recruiting River Citizens (people who make small changes in their lives to care about and help protect the river) and helping educate others on the importance of the great Mississippi river, its tributaries, and wetlands. Terri Treacy (Springfield), Springfield Representative


Terri represents the Chapter's conservation agenda to the state legislature and administrative agencies. Working in cooperation with the volunteer leadership she plans and implements the chapter's approved legislative and administrative advocacy program, including assisting the Chapter Lobby Team with volunteer recruitment, training and organizing. She is also the Chapter staff point person on downstate conservation issues such as openland protection, Shawnee Forest Campaign, coal, fracking, pipelines, highways, etc.

Lisa Medearis, Clean Energy Advocate

Lisa plans and implements the Illinois Chapter's programs supporting wind, solar, and energy efficiency, in coordination with the Beyond Coal campaign and volunteer leaders.

Stephanie Spence, Communications and Development Coordinator

Stephanie creates, updates, and manages the Illinois Chapter's communications, including our social media, blog, print work, websites, the Prairie State Protector, and the yearly election ballots. She can be found at x111.

Colleen develops and implements advocacy campaigns for the Our Wild America Dirty Fuels and Beyond Coal campaigns.

Justin Ubebelhor, Online Organizer, Beyond Coal Campaign

Justin provides online support for state-based campaigns across the Midwest to move the region beyond coal to clean energy.

Becki Clayborn, Events Project Manager, Illinois Beyond Coal Campaign

Becki implements, on behalf of Sierra Club, high profile large gatherings of Americans demanding clean energy as a solution to climate disruption - demonstrating a robust and powerful climate movement.
